In thirty-five rooms of an abandoned corner building at Hybernská Street No. 2, formerly home to the State National Security among other institutions, students of art, design, and architecture brought their interpretations of the phenomenon of growth to life. Video installations, objects, paintings, and various playful concepts were created by student collectives from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland. The site-specific exhibition ran from November 8 to 17 and included a highly topical accompanying program.

The theme of growth was not approached solely as a linear process but rather as a complex and often ambivalent phenomenon. Many installations reflected nostalgia for childhood, where growth symbolized innocence and discovery, contrasting with adolescence, often perceived as a period of disillusionment and confrontation with reality. This personal dimension was complemented by a critique of contemporary economic and social growth, strongly influenced by the degrowth movement.

The artists challenged traditional notions of perpetual progress and growth, calling for a reevaluation of humanity’s relationship with nature and emphasizing the need for sustainable development. Ecological themes resonated throughout the installations, as did issues of personal burnout, often linked to the pressure for constant growth—be it professional, personal, or economic. In this context, growth assumes paradoxical meanings: on the one hand, it is a goal, and on the other, a source of anxiety and exhaustion.
